Who is on the Lord's Side?

Psalm 42:11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? 

--are you living in a cast down state of mind?  Why?  

Why art thou disquieted within me? 

--are you in a constant state of distress?  Why?

Hope thou in God: 

--where is your hope?  If you, on purpose, place your hope in God...you don't need to be cast down.  You also don't need to live in disquiet or constant stress.

For I shall yet praise him, 

--can you praise him in the good and bad time?  Can you tust Him and His wisdom for your life?  Will you still praise God even when things are not going your way?

Who is the health of my countenance, 

--health, salvation or deliverance

--countenance, presence or position

--is God really in control of my situation?  Yes!  

Who is my God?

--it all boils down to this.  Who is my God?  Am I serving Him or me?  If I'm living a life that is cast down or in disquiet all the time, it might be because I am serving me and not Him.
