Proverbs 25:19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
I really don't like going to the dentist. In fact, due to a strong gag reflex, he needs to 'disappear' with the use of drugs anytime I need to have dental work done. Yet, there are times when I need to go in. A toothache can take over and mess up everything. It is not something to be ignored. You cannot function when you have a bad tooth.
A few years ago, I ruptured my achillies tendon and this required surgery. This put me in a cast as I recovered. Have you ever tried to shower with a leg in a cast? Precarious is putting it mildly!
Today's verse likens relying on an unfaithful man similar to trying to live with a toothache or a foot out of commission. Both scenarios make you feel incapable of success.
But, let's take the opposite...confidence in a faithful man is like using your powerful jaw or having feet capable of a swift response.
Pretty easy to decide where you want your confidence to be placed.
