That He Might Preserve Us

Deuteronomy 6:5-7 [5] And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. [6] And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: [7] And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Thy God, first off...is He your God?
Makes me think of small children playing. One picks up the toy before the other one and announces, "Mine!". At that point they are staking their claim on the toy. Have you done that with God? Have you declared Him as your God? Once you have made the decision that He is your God, then comes the loving with all your heart/soul/might.
Loving God should be such an integral part of us that it just spills out every where. But we are also to diligently pass it in to the next generation.
Deuteronomy 6:24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
