Strife & Selfishness

Genesis 13:8 And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.

Let there be no strife...

For we are brethren...

Strife: bitter conflict, an act of contention, exertion for superiority.

You know what I see in these definitions? Selfishness.

Bitter: when you harbor ill feelings against someone for what they did to you.

Conflict: a struggle for power.

Contention: rivalry or competition...gotta be number one?

Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Whether it be a blood relative or a Christian brother or sister, let's not have strife between us.

I began to record my thoughts each day from my devotions many years ago. I love to use the dictionary to expand my understanding of the Bible. I started sharing them with others and decided to create a place to share them more easily. I pray these nuggets are an encouragement to you.
