Shield of Faith

Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Shield... used as a protection against blows

Of faith... complete trust or confidence in someone or something

Quench... stifle or suppress 

Many times we grow weary in the battle.  This verse was encouraging this morning.

Above all... take on the shield of faith.

This passage talks about all the armor.  But above all... the shield. Now this above all could mean on top of all the other stuff or that it is the most important piece.  Either way it is vital to have faith.  It is a defensive and offensive piece of equipment.  Defensive as it protects you from incoming fire and offensive as it quenches is the wicked.
