Luke 15:17-18 [17] And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! [18] I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

He came to himself

Previously it is told of how the prodigal son became very selfish and wanted his inheritance now. He then went and spent it on riotous living. Once his fortune was gone and he had hit bottom, then he came to his senses.

Where are you today? Are you spending your fortune for self only? What is it gonna take for you to "come to yourself"?

Also notice here that the father never moved. He was right where the son had left him, waiting for his return. What a great picture of the Lord and us. He is there waiting for us to come to ourselves and return to Him.

I began to record my thoughts each day from my devotions many years ago. I love to use the dictionary to expand my understanding of the Bible. I started sharing them with others and decided to create a place to share them more easily. I pray these nuggets are an encouragement to you.
