Job 1:8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
God points out Job to Satan. Satan's implies that the only reason Job is following is because of the hedge of protection God has put around him. Then God allows Satan to "touch all he hath" just not harm him.
All the events that followed were to test Job's devotion to the Lord. Was he only serving and following because of the blessings and protection given him? In the end, Job was released from Satan's hold when he prayed for his friends. Job 42:10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
Couple of thoughts on this today.
--God used Job as an example of excellence to Satan. Could we be His example today?
--God allowed Satan to touch all that he hath, just not him. God was still in control of the situation at all times. He never allowed Satan full control. Are we believing and trusting that God is in control today?
--God turned Job's captivity when he prayed for his friends. Even amidst your trials, are you concerned for those around you?
