Enlarge My Coast

1 Chronicles 4:9-10 [9] And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. [10] And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

more honourable-morally correct, honest, moral, ethical, principled, righteous, right-minded, full of integrity; decent, respected, respectable,

And Jabez called on the God of Israel,-He asked God to enlarge his coast, to be with him, keep him from evil....and God granted him these requests.

First off Jabez was honorable. More than his brethren, this means he was different than those around him. He stood out as more honorable. Do you stand out that way in your Christian walk?

Then he called on God. Are you calling on God to give you more responsibilities? That God would not only bless him but that He would keep him from evil, like becoming corrupt with the blessings he received. Are you glorifying God with what He has given you...or is it only for your gain?

I pray that this year I will be seen as honorable for God's glory!

That God will bless me indeed!

That God will enlarge my coast!

That His hand would be upon me!

That God would keep me from evil!

That this enlargement and blessing will not grieve (cause pain) me!
