Proverbs 4:14-15 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. [15] Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
I love chocolate. But, I have little self control when it is available. As long as the package is not opened, I can abstain. Once it is open…all self control is gone!
These verses remind me of my ability to control myself when chocolate has been opened.
Don’t enter the path,
Don’t go the way of evil men,
Avoid it at all cost
Pass not by it
Turn from it
Pass away from it
It is pretty clear here that we should walk as far away from temptation as we possibly can. I remember hearing in a message that we should not walk on the edge of sin’s temptation. Because if we succumb, we fall off the cliff. If we walk far away from the edge of temptation, then if we fall we have room before we fall off the cliff into sin.
Don’t open that bag of “chocolate” that will tempt you today.
