Proverbs 26:23 Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.
Strong's Definition-Burning
A primitive root; to flame (literally or figuratively): - {burning} {chase} {inflame} {kindle} persecute ({-or}) pursue hotly.
Have you ever had someone verbally attack you? With a wicked heart? What was their motivation? What was the value or endgame in their attack?
Now, take a terracotta planter, drop it, let it break into pieces, then cover them in silver. If you didn't know...you might think this silver piece was solid silver. Nope, just the outside. Sort of like a hollow chocolate bunny at Easter.
The value of bitter verbal persecution is like that. Hollow. The outside coating of silver is covering something of little value.
1 Corinthians 8:1 b...Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
Chose charity not a wicked heart. Edify those around you.
