Appreciating Forgiveness

...but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. Luke 7:47

For comparison sale, let's compare two fictitious emergency room visits.  One goes in with a cut finger.  It is a serious cut and needs stitches etc.  The other goes in with a life threatening condition, let's say heart attack.  Now both of these need care and attention, but the potential outcome is far different if not treated promptly and properly.  In the end, which one will appreciate the healing care more?  The heart attack victim and his family had so much more at stake than the cut finger patient.  I think the finger patient and family would surely appreciate the care received, but the heart patient is glad to still be alive and had those medical professional to thank.

Luke 7:37-38 [37] And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, [38] And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

This is what I get from this particular verse.  She was known to be a sinful woman.  Yet Christ would forgive her.  She had much to be forgiven, which in turn meant much to love Christ for.

We also have much to be forgiven.  Do we take the time to appreciate all Christ has forgiven us?

I began to record my thoughts each day from my devotions many years ago. I love to use the dictionary to expand my understanding of the Bible. I started sharing them with others and decided to create a place to share them more easily. I pray these nuggets are an encouragement to you.
